For 60 years, Eastlands has been more than just a shopping centre. It’s been a place where people come together to shop, work, connect, and create memories.
To mark this milestone, we’re celebrating the stories that have helped shape our centre through a special photo exhibition and a series of interviews.
Visit the free photo exhibition to explore rare images from local photographer Don Stephens, along with clippings from our archives.
From the early days of Rosny Regional to the expansions that made Eastlands Tasmania’s largest shopping centre, these photos capture the everyday magic of life on the Eastern Shore.

The Eastlands 60th Anniversary Photo Exhibition is free to visit and open during centre hours, located on the lower level outside Kmart from 6–26 October.
Featuring a rare collection of photographs taken by Don Stephens, a local photographer who documented life on the Eastern Shore for decades, this exhibition captures our centre from its earliest days. The imagery includes the opening of Rosny Regional Shopping Square, which later became Eastland's, and were kindly donated by Don’s son, Leigh Stephens.
Alongside Don’s work, the exhibition includes archival clippings, promotional material, and photos that registered the expansions that made it Tasmania’s largest shopping centre.
From first jobs to unforgettable experiences, explore the memories of locals, retailers, and staff who helped shape Eastlands.
